Finally

I have finally finished World of Tiers by Philip Jose Farmer and am now starting on Dawn of the Dumb by Charlie Brooker, some light dystopian fun

I recently found out that my American Amazon Author page has a feed from this blog which you can see here. It only shows on the .com site but not others. C'est La Vie.

No music but just some Charlie Brooker video for you.

I'm Still In Tiers

I have another thirty pages til the end of World of Tiers by Philip Jose Farmer and still feel as though it will never end. I will finish it but not sure if I will start the second volume immediately.

This week I visited the John Marley Centre for the first time and if you wait on this page you should be automatically redirected there. I went to check out Beyond Vinyl and some of their art.

There is too much going on for me, and I know that people will love that but it has really been a slog for me and at nearly five hundred pages the end has been a very long time coming.

I recently found out that my American Amazon Author page has a feed from this blog which you can see here. It only shows on the .com site but not others. C'est La Vie.

The music is "Greed Is Good" by Shakin' Stevens which is absolutely excellent. I caught him playing a Shakin' Stevens Tribute Act in a recent episode of Greg Davies' "The Cleaner".

Still In Tiers

I am still reading World of Tiers by Philip Jose Farmer and feel as though it will never end, but have less than a hundred pages to go in the first volume. I will finish it but not sure if I will start the second volume immediately.

I've actually done a few posts on here this month so this blog is not dead.

I recently found out that my American Amazon Author page has a feed from this blog which you can see here. It only shows on the .com site but not others. C'est La Vie.

The music is Ren's take on the Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony" which a lot of people do not realise uses Andrew Loog Oldham's orchestral take on The Rolling Stones' "The Last Time". If you don't know of Ren you really have to check him out. He's on Youtube here

A March Post

I renewed the URL on this for another two years, but find it really weird that when I write a post it gets about twenty reads, although the blog can have anything from 2 to a thousand reads in a day. I still don't know how it works.

I have now sold 86 books so hoping to hit a hundred one day.

I am now not really writing much on this blog and thought this month I might not post at all, but I have done and this is it.

Two Thousand Five Hundred Posts On Seven Days In

This is post number 2500 whichis a milestone. The visits are now picking up going from single figures to three figures on a daily basis. This does not make me money but hopelly the links to my Vocal page may be able to tap into these visit.

This week I have listened to the complete Pink Floyd back catalogue on CD plus obviously a lot more. I also found a post about my start on being part of a Gospel choir with Sharon Durant and supporting Solomon Burke at the Sage in Gateshead which I may turn into a Vocal story.

The first gig of the year will be The Musical Box final tour of "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" at the Tyne Theatre tomorrow.

Still reading World of Tiers by Philip Jose Farmer and it is a little formulaic but I will persist with it as he is a good writer.

2499

This is post number 2499 which I suppose is a sort of milestone, well the next one will be. The visits are still dropping off so still trying to figure out what is going on and still wondering whether to keep this URL. My visits are currently just making double figures though this month there have been over 10K.

I just switched modes on this editor and it changed the font types so apologies if it looks odd.

Continual Observation

This is a follow-up to my last post, not really saying anything new, but wondering if this will stimulate visits one more

The visits seem to have dropped off so still trying to figure out what is going on and whether to keep this URL which may be the reason for the sometimes huge spikes in visits

A Numerical Experiment

This blog is now a sort of diary and I am not sure if I will hit 20 posts this year. I had not posted in a month and in December 2022 I have about six thousand visits (I wish I got that many reads on my Vocal site which actually does make me money with about fifteen hundred reads per month.

However, when I posted this month for one day I got four thousand visits, so this is a test to see whether dropping a post in here will give me another boost, this month is standing at twelve thousand visits.

I am still reading World of Tiers by Philip Jose Farmer and it is a little formulaic but I will persist with it as he is a good writer.

Too Many Tiers

This is my first post of this year, and showing how I have slipped off the pace with this blog as most of my writing is now on Vocal, and that actually pays me coffee money.

I am still reading World of Tiers by Philip Jose Farmer and in some ways, it is becoming a little samey although I can't remember everything that happens in it. I can't diss it, and I will finish it but I am a slow reader and am only 140 pages into to it and there are two books probably laying in at over a thousand pages.

I recently found out that my American Amazon Author page has a feed from this blog which you can see here. It only shows on the .com site but not others. C'est La Vie.

Still In Tiers

This will probably be my last blog post this year. Most of my writing is now on Vocal and I use this mainly to document my reading. I may do a New Year's Eve and New Year's Day post to finish off the year.

I am still reading World of Tiers by Philip Jose Farmer and It has many similarities with the Riverworld series though no historical figures. Essential Gods create these Tiers which reflect epochs in Earth's history, in a different dimension. The book is big and the text small so I think I will be some time on this one, though I eventually slipped into this universe and now I want to know where it goes.

Very little is familiar to me barring the concept and one of the characters.

Back Into The World Of Tiers

I thought this was going to be the first month for maybe fifteen years that I didn't post to this blog. I finished "The Prince With The Silver Hand" which is the second trilogy of Corum books which has been described by The Irish Times as a whole new dimension to Celtic Mythology band really did not want it to end, but I knew it had to, but I loved every word I read.

My next book is diving back into World of Tiers by Philip Jose Farmer which I can tell you nothing about because it is so long since I last read it, but I will share my progress so there may be another post before the end of November.

"Rings of Power"  is also complete as is "House of the Dragon", both of which I have been impressed with.

I also found out that my American Amazon Author page has a feed from this blog which you can see here. It only shows on the .com site but not others. C'est La Vie.

Into The Realm Of Swords

I have "The Magic Labyrinth" in the "Riverworld" series and although it was a bit of a slog it was a good read, but I am taking a break from "Riverworld" now. Although this was originally a four-book series it does finish on a cliffhanger and there is then "Gods of Riverworld" to follow it up, but that is another day.

I am impressed with "Rings of Power" and have revisited one of my favourite Michel Moorcock series "The Swords of Corum" and am almost finished  "The Knight Of The Swords" and finding it remarkably easy to read. It is a wonderful fantasy with love, violence and some incredible imagery, some people describe Moorcock as the greatest fantasy author since Tolkien though there are many who could claim that mantle.

This is the first of six books and I know this will be an easy twelve hundred pages for me to read.

I also found out that my American Amazon Author page has a feed from this blog which you can see here. It only shows on the .com site but not others. C'est La Vie.

Music is "Black Blade" by The Blue Oyster Cult and co-written by Michael Moorcock.

Still Lost In The Labyrinth

I am two thirds of the way through "The Magic Labyrinth" in the "Riverworld" series and still enjoying it although Riverworld is just becoming a setting for everyday issues in that setting, but I do love the juxtaposition of all the characters from history being set up for a battle between boats on the river. You do learn a lot about historical figures from Farmer's writing.

I also found out that my Amazon Author page has a feed from this blog which you can see here although now I am saying this it seems to have disappeared, c'est la vie.

Into The Magic Labyrinth

"The Wind Whales of Ishmael" turned out to be a 130-page interlude into a non-Armageddon end of the world scenario and though only 130 pages long because it was a single unbroken piece it seemed much longer, but still an enjoyable unusual sci-fi follow up to Melville's "Moby Dick"

"The Magic Labyrinth" continues the "Riverworld" series and all the characters are there in this five hundred page first finale to the series (which like many such series just kept spawning more books, so there will be more after this no doubt.

Music is "Underground" from Labyrinth by David Bowie

A Break From Riverworld but There Are Wind Whales

I have finished "The Dark Design"  the third book in the "Riverworld series but before setting out into "The Magic Labyrinth," I thought I would take a detour with another Farmer novel "The Wind Whales of Ishmael".

It is only 130 pages long but has no chapters, just a single piece of text that runs over those pages. Chapters enable you to take a break, and while 130 pages could be read in one sitting I am a slow reader.

The story is a futuristic science fiction sequel to "Moby Dick"

Music is "Nantucket Sleighride" by Mountain
