Road To Cairo

"Jerusalem Commands" by Michael Moorcock: Max and Esme travel to North Africa with Captain Quelch to make a film in Egypt. They are working their way across the Mediterranean coast and have arrived in Cairo. Max is still complaining that he has been robbed and that other people have taken what should have been his. I would not like to know him at all, but he is almost like Forrest Gump, and we learn a little of history because of who he meets and what he attempts to do.

I am still reading "Imajica" by Clive Barker on my Kindle. This is a book I never want to end. When I finish it, I just restart it. I read a lot on my trip to Scotland yesterday

Casablanca Mood

  "Jerusalem Commands" by Michael Moorcock, see Max and Esme in North Africa with Captain Quelch to make a film in Egypt. According to Pyat (Max), Africa's coastal towns and cities are run down to hide the riches within the continent. I still don't really know where this is going, and it is still like wading through quicksand, but I still want to know what happens next.

On To jerusalem

 "Jerusalem Commands" by Michael Moorcock is underway, and still the text is dense as ever, difficult to read, but I need to know what the next scrape Pyat will get into. There is a lot of racism and misogyny floating about, but that is the nature of the story. This is another long, difficult haul, but the reviews of the book (this is number 3) are positive, and I will finish this and volume four too.

Apparently, there were eight years between this and The Laughter Of Carthage. It was published in 1991.

"The Outrun" by Amy Liptrot, is now finished and very uplifting, although you don't expect that when you read the prologue. Highly recommended.

The book brings into play the magic and mysticism of Orkney, Standing Stones and Skara Brae, as well as the wildlife. There are magic disappearing islands and lots of references to Celtic mythology.

Now the 577 pages of "Jerusalem Commands" by Michael Moorcock is ready for reading, to find out more about Pyat. Into the muddy treacle once more.

Still On the Outrun

"The Outrun" by Amy Liptrot, is getting better as I get further into it, teaching me about wildlife, looking after yourself, and astronomy. The London references are a lot smaller, and this is a wonderful integration of ancient and modern life. Highly recommended.

The book brings into play the magic and mysticism of Orkney, Standing Stones and Skara Brae, as well as the wildlife. There are magic disappearing islands and lots of references to Celtic mythology.

This is a good start.

On The Outrun

"The Outrun" by Amy Liptrot, has started well for me. The Outun is a field on Amy's Orkney farm, and the prologue introduces why her life has been torn apart by mental health issues and religion.

The book brings into play the magic and mysticism of Orkney, Standing Stones and Skara Brae, as well as the wildlife. There are magic disappearing islands and lots of references to Celtic mythology.

This is a good start.

 "Aristotle and Dante Dive Into the Waters of the World"  by Benjamin Alire Sáenz.  is complete, and I thought it was great, but it finished earlier than I was expecting because the last ten pages were an acknowledgement by the author.

Before I start on   "Jerusalem Commands" by Michael Moorcock, I am going to read "The Outrun" by Amy Liptrot, which my friend Katy loaned me, and it has maps of Orkney and Shetland, so that's a good start.
