Fireworks

I got up this morning for a quick walk round and get fresh air , and saw a fading rainbow over Giggleswick (you can see it here) which was wonderful but like many atmospheric events you have to photograph them now or else they are gone.

I then noticed the date and it's the fifth of November , Guy Fawkes Night

"Remember, Remember
The Fifth of November
Gunpowder, Treason and Plot"

We could do with Guy Fawkes today methinks ....

But that made me think of the song "Fireworks" by Blue Oyster Cult from their "Spectres" album which a lot of people put down for being too polished, but it is full of great songs and is worth having in your collection, I have all their albums and that is one of the stand outs.

Today will be a trip to Skipton to visit The Huntress of Skipton Castle Woods as I always do when I came here.

I know this is a short post but I need to be getting on my way to catch the train to Skipton.

Octoberpost

This is intended to be a short post just to say I have equalled my record number of posts on this blog for a year and I still have just over two months of the year left.  It was helped by my #August50 sequence that was the first time I did fifty posts in a month , and I am sure I won't be doing that again any time soon.

As I'm writing this it's dark, fireworks are going off and dogs are barking. It should be illegal except on designated nights because it upsets and scares pets and it is nowhere near Guy Fawkes night or Bonfire Night whichever you want to call it or celebrate.

For some reasons Barclay James Harvest's "Octoberon" album came to mind, just for the title although I loved the cover I don't really know the album, but I do remember "Rock'n'Roll Star" being a single. They produced some great music but never really hit paydirt, though apparently they gave Harvest records it's name, and they had , among others, Pink Floyd on their roster.

I first got into them seeing them perform "Thank You" on  The Old Grey Whistle Test with its brilliant loping guitar riff and I've alwys enjoyed their music though they are not the top of my playlists.

Well my next post will set a new record, so I am sure that will happen before October fades away .....

Countdown - TEN - #40 - 1996 - Donna Lewis - I Love You Always Forever

Counting Down
Well it's Friday and who knows what will happen today . I am ten posts away from my thousandth post on this blog so counting down, and need four thousand page views to hit my 100K target by New Year's Eve . Guy Fawkes is gone and the weekend beckons . Fog and smoke has permeated the atmosphere and it's been wet and not exactly sunny.

I've hit year 40 in the Odyssey and there were a lot of fine records in 1996 but  I Love You Always Forever  by Donna Lewis has such a gorgeous chorus , and it shows what a soppy soul I really am. I had completely forgotten about this song , but now it's remembered.

Enjoy and have a brilliant Friday everyone

Burn The Goverment - #39 - 1995 - McAlmont & Butler - Yes

V
Idon't think too many tears would be shed if Cameron , Osborne , May and IDS were dispatched is Guy Fawkes failed attempt to do something about government corruption. I wonder where we would be had he succeeded? The pain that they have spitefully inflicted on on the population of this realm , especially those unable to look out for themselves , the poor , the sick , those bombed out of their homes by weapons sold and promoted my this government to line their own pockets. But really we will have fireworks and bonfires and straw guys commemorating bonfire night and

Ok we are 39 years into the Odyssey and I've chosen the excellent McAlmont and Butler song "Yes". This is an amazing song and this Odyssey has proved that there is always great music around at any given time.

Have a wonderful Guy Fawkes Night.

Gunpowder and Treason and Fireworks

Well it's Guy Fawke's Night and the fireworks have been going on for weeks. It's ironic the the government are the biggest bunch of self serving crooks you could imagine and the supposed opposition are not much better. So if I were to go on about this, then this would be a very depressing and negative post.

The thing is while the banging of the fireworks can be annoying , the colours and designs can be amazing and it means I can use a brilliant video set to to Fireworks from the Blue Oyster Cult's Spectres.

So really this is just a nothing much post in the middle of the week as the weather gets colder, but we've had excellent weather this year and it's been rather good. So enjoy the fireworks , have a good night and remember we're half way through this week. Have a brilliant night.
