On To jerusalem

"Jerusalem Commands" by Michael Moorcock is underway, and still the text is dense as ever, difficult to read, but I need to know what the next scrape Pyat will get into. There is a lot of racism and misogyny floating about, but that is the nature of the story. This is another long, difficult haul, but the reviews of the book (this is number 3) are positive, and I will finish this and volume four too.

Apparently, there were eight years between this and The Laughter Of Carthage. It was published in 1991.

I am still reading "Imajica" by Clive Barker on my Kindle. This is a book I never want to end. When I finish it, I just restart it. I read a lot on my trip to Scotland yesterday

I recently discovered that my American Amazon Author page has a feed from this blog, which you can see here. It only shows on the .com site but not on others. C'est La Vie.

The music is "These Are The Days" by Lift To Experience from "The Texas Jerusalem Crossroads"

Muudy Treacle

"The Outrun" by Amy Liptrot, is now finished and very uplifting, although you don't expect that when you read the prologue. Highly recommended.

The book brings into play the magic and mysticism of OrkneyStanding Stones and Skara Brae, as well as the wildlife. There are magic disappearing islands and lots of references to Celtic mythology.

Now the 577 pages of "Jerusalem Commands" by Michael Moorcock is ready for reading, to find out more about Pyat. Into the muddy treacle once more.

I am still reading "Imajica" by Clive Barker on my Kindle. This is a book I never want to end. When I finish it, I just restart it. I read a lot on my trip to Scotland yesterday

Still On the Outrun

"The Outrun" by Amy Liptrot, is getting better as I get further into it, teaching me about wildlife, looking after yourself, and astronomy. The London references are a lot smaller, and this is a wonderful integration of ancient and modern life. Highly recommended.

The book brings into play the magic and mysticism of OrkneyStanding Stones and Skara Brae, as well as the wildlife. There are magic disappearing islands and lots of references to Celtic mythology.

This is a good start.

"Jerusalem Commands" by Michael Moorcock is on hold while I read The Outrun

On The Outrun

"The Outrun" by Amy Liptrot, has started well for me. The Outun is a field on Amy's Orkney farm, and the prologue introduces why her life has been torn apart by mental health issues and religion.

The book brings into play the magic and mysticism of Orkney, Standing Stones and Skara Brae, as well as the wildlife. There are magic disappearing islands and lots of references to Celtic mythology.

This is a good start.

Next

"Aristotle and Dante Dive Into the Waters of the World"  by Benjamin Alire Sáenz is complete, and I thought it was great, but it finished earlier than I was expecting because the last ten pages were an acknowledgement by the author.

Before I start on   "Jerusalem Commands" by Michael Moorcock, I am going to read "The Outrun" by Amy Liptrot, which my friend Katy loaned me, and it has maps of Orkney and Shetland, so that's a good start.

I am still reading "Imajica" by Clive Barker on my Kindle. This is a book I never want to end. When I finish it, I just restart it.

Ku Klux Klan

"Laughter In Carthage" by Michael Moorcock, Max (Pyat) has run off from the Ku Klux Klan become an actor and finally conned someone into giving him money so he can be reunited with his sweetheart. The book is nearly finished, and Volume 3 is lined up.

"Aristotle and Dante Dive Into the Waters of the World"  by Benjamin Alire Sáenz seamlessly continues the first book in the series, but the boys are now of legal age and making their way in the world with the support of their families. They are camping, drinking and smoking weed and finding their way in the world.

The first book had very short chapters but this os more conventional so is taking longer than expected.

I am still reading "Imajica" by Clive Barker on my Kindle. This is a book I never want to end. When I finish it, I just restart it.

Running Away In Memphis

In "Laughter In Carthage" by Michael Moorcock, Max (Pyat) is now in Memphis, involved with the Ku Klux Klan and destitute while pretending to be a millionaire and getting close to incurring the wrath of a lot of powerful people.

"Aristotle and Dante Dive Into the Waters of the World"  by Benjamin Alire Sáenz seamlessly continues the first book in the series, but the boys are now of legal age and making their way in the world with the support of their families.

New York

In "Laughter In Carthage" by Michael Moorcock i Max (Pyat) is now in New York, where things are much the same as Paris where he has left Esme with his friend.

"Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe" by Benjamin Alire Sáenz, is complete, and it is an excellent, easy read which I would recommend if you are fine with a love story between two teenage boys. I enjoyed it. "Aristotle and Dante Dive Into the Waters of the World" is the follow-up up and it seamlessly continues the first book, though I am only twenty pages into a five-hundred-page tome.

I am still reading "Imajica" by Clive Barker on my Kindle. This is a book I never want to end. When I finish it, I just restart it.

Zeppelins In Paris

"Laughter In Carthage" by Michael Moorcock is half completed. Max (Pyat) is now building a zeppelin in Paris and has come into a lot of money after being hunted as a spy and saboteur.

"Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe" by Benjamin Alire Sáenz, is continuing. Date has kissed Aristotle much to Ari's annoyance, and Ari is going bowling with Dante's dad.

I am still reading "Imajica" by Clive Barker on my Kindle. This is a book I never want to end. When I finish it, I just restart it.

Venice and then Rome

"Laughter In Carthage" by Michael Moorcock is still very dense, Max (Pyat) is obsessed with flying machines and Christianity as a conquering force, nothing else. He and Esme are now in Rome, via Venice with a view to getting Paris while observing triple-decker funeral trams.

"Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe" by Benjamin Alire Sáenz, which is a far easier read, but Ari is just recovering in hospital from a car accident after saving Dante

I am still reading "Imajica" by Clive Barker on my Kindle. This is a book I never want to end. When I finish it, I just restart it.

"Laughter In Carthage" by Michael Moorcock is still very dense Max (Pyat) obsessed with flying machines and Christianity as a conquering force, nothing else. A Carthaginian Traffic Jam

"Laughter In Carthage" by Michael Moorcock is still fairly dense (2 chapters on one page is a lot), so it is just a hell of a lot of text, but the chapters are getting shorter quicker. am now almost a third of the way through, but there is not much movement or anything happening, most descriptions and reminiscing, and Max finds a child that he now has to look after, who reminds him of a lost love. Still ploughing on though.

I am still reading "Imajica" by Clive Barker on my Kindle. This is a book I never want to end. When I finish it, I just restart it.

Carthaginian

"Laughter In Carthage" by Michael Moorcock is still fairly dense (2 chapters on one page is a lot), so it is just a hell of a lot of text, but the chapters are getting shorter quicker. 130 pages in, I am on Chapter 5. I still don't know what it happening, but Maxim Pyat is moving from soldier to businessman/agitator. This would not do for everyone, but I am pressing on, and it has not scared me away yet.

I am still reading "Imajica" by Clive Barker on my Kindle. This is a book I never want to end. When I finish it, I just restart it.
