The Collected Works Of Billy The Kid

"Creation Stories" by Alan McGee (that's the record label, not religion or history) is finished. It's still Oasis being the biggest band in the world (I think they are an adequate pub band) The Libertines were a band who's only button was self-destruct, but then McGee found Glasvegas.

My next book is The Collected Works of Billy the Kid by the Canadian Michael Ondaatje. Part diary part poetry drawing on contemporary accounts, period photographs, dime novels, and his own prodigious fund of empathy and imagination, only a hundred pages but like nothing I have read before. This will be finished on my next post I think. The nearest I can compare it to is "taRaNtula" by Bob Dylan though it is nothing like it.

The music is "Geraldine" by Glasvegas

Creation Poptones Super Furry Animals And Libertines

"Creation Stories" by Alan McGee (that's the record label, not religion or history) is coming to the end. It's still Oasis being the biggest band in the world (I think they are an adequate pub band)m Creation has gone and Poptones with The Libertines is where I am up to.

I was unaware that the Super Furry Animals were on Creation, and I do love them so I will feature one of their songs as they really might be the best band in the world. A damned sight better than Oasis.

Creation: Oasis

"Creation Stories" by Alan McGee (that's the record label, not religion or history) and I have just got up to the chapter on Oasis who forced their way onto a Creation gig in Glasgow and impressing McGee enough to sign them and try and make them the biggest band in the world. They were the first of his bands to be arrested by the police after a ruckus with Chelsea fans on the ferry to Amsterdam.

They never got there.

Re: Creation

"Creation Stories" by Alan McGee
(that's the record label, not religion or history) is an easy read for me, and I am learning a lot and think I need to properly revisit, House of Love, Teenage Fanclub and My Bloody Valentine. With the Oasis furore going on this is an appropriate read methinks. I think my next book needs to be fiction but we shall see.

Alan McGee Creation Stories

"Copendium" by Julian Cope is done. Next up is "Creation Stories" by Alan McGee (that's the record label, not religion or history) and I have already devoured over a hundred pages featuring bands like Jesus and Mary Chain, and Primal Scream but Oasis hasn't turned up yet, normal for them. There is so much drug taking and fighting that I suppose it is good to remember but not good to be part of.

I recently discovered that my American Amazon Author page has a feed from this blog which you can see here. It only shows on the .com site but not on others. C'est La Vie.

The music is "Just Like Honey" by The Jesus and Mary Chain

Copendium Completed With More PostPunkSampler

That's it, "Copendium" the 700-page treatise on music by Julian Cope is done. I thought PostPunkSampler was the finale but there is a PostPunkSampler2 and there are a few bands I know in that 26 extra songs but they are all part of my collection so it is an excuse to include "Ambition" from Vic Goddard's Subway Sect.

Next up is "Creation Stories" by Alan McGee (that's the record label, not religion or history)

Cope's writing at times goes absolutely but entertainingly mad by describing one band by roping in three, four or five others.

"It's Donovan being Nick Drake singing 'Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun' down a storm drain, as recorded as an out-take from the more outré moments on Nico's Chelsea Girls. Got me?"

The book is printed on thick paper so it is a fairly hefty tome.
