Looking Down On The Golden Ziggurat

"The Skrayling Tree" by Michael Moorcock is moving on further. Elric, his mirror-helmed partner, Gunnar the Damned, and their new companion, the small giant Lobkowitz, have been through a blizzard caused by a wind demon, then lost some of their crew in avalanches caused by Frost Giants, and now stand on a high, cold ridge looking down on the Golden Ziggurat in the middle of a frozen lake that may be their destination.

Insect Headed

"The Skrayling Tree" by Michael Moorcock is progressing at a steady pace. Elric and his mirror-helmed partner, Gunnar the Damned, are now in a drug infused longhouse with an army of insect headed midgets with who they are going to take to the City of Gold.

Finding Vinland

"The Skrayling Tree" by Michael Moorcock is progressing at a steady pace. Elric and his mirror-helmed partner, Gunnar the Damned, have traversed Hell, pursued by Hel. With their Vikings on Gunnar's ship, the Swan, they have arrived on the shores of Vinland and unexpectedly find a house, when Gunnar had expected nothing but ignorant Skraylings. Klosterhein opens the door to Gunnar's dismay.

Silverskin

"The Skrayling Tree" by  Michael Moorcock is very enjoyabale but we have left Oona, Bes, White Crow and Hiawatha for Elric's story, wandering through The Devil's Garden somewhere in Eastern Euarope and meening with an untrustworthy Norse Pirate, a nun and a friar. Elric is an albino, also called Silverskin by others, but he is no onion.

A Screaming Lull

"The Skrayling Tree" by  Michael Moorcock is going very well, and Ayanawatta, Oona and White Crow are riding the woolly mammoth Bes. The feathered dragon has been dealt with, so they are in a lull, considering dreamworlds and moonlight path walking.

A Feathered Dragon

"The Skrayling Tree" by  Michael Moorcock is going very well, and Ayanawatta, Oona and White Crow are riding the woolly mammoth Bes. They are now battling with a dying feathered dragon that has lost its way, and came off worst in an encounter with Bes. White Crow thinks it will be humane to kill it as it is in so much pain.

Battling Pygmies On A Mammoth

"The Skrayling Tree" by  Michael Moorcock is going very well, and Ayanawatta (the Hiawatha figure) with Oon has met White Crow, who may be Oona's son or father-in-law due to temporal madness. White Crow is riding a woolly mammoth called Bes, and they are being pursued by a band of pygmies led by a puritan Nazi enemy of Onna's, Klosterheim, who is now also a pygmy. This is madly enjoyable.

A Screaming Tree

"The Skrayling Tree" by  Michael Moorcock is an excellent read, and I was hoping to discover what a Skrayling Tree was. The book delves into American/ Norse History, and according to the Hiawatha figure, when Leif Erikson and the Vikings landed in Vinland, they were attacked and harassed by the "Screamers" or "Skraelings", so that answers that question for me.

Gitche Gumee

"The Skrayling Tree" by  Michael Moorcock is an excellent read, far more readable than the Pyat Quartet that took up a lot of last year. It's also subtitled "The Albino In America", referring to Ulric/Elric or his mysterious younger self that appeared in the mysterious island house. Oona Von Bek has ended up on the shores of Gitche Gumee (Lake Superior in invaderspeak)  searching for her kidnapped husband as chapter two starts.

The Kidnap

An Utterly Impartial History of Britain: (or 2000 Years Of Upper Class Idiots In Charge)   by John O'Farrell was enjoyable but the stories from the wars were not easy reading. I have now restarted "The Skrayling Tree" by Michael Moorcock.and am finding this enjoyable as is is another part of the "Eternal Champion" universe and Urlic (or Elric) has just been kidnapped by ghostly Indians in Nova Scotia.

Never Forget

An Utterly Impartial History of Britain: (or 2000 Years Of Upper Class Idiots In Charge)   by John O'Farrell, has finished taking in The Second World War, Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the horror of that conflict, but it engendered a gentle revolution in the United Kingdom with the landslide voctory of the Labour Government, and the introduction of the National Health Service and so mant things to actually buil the country up after the ravages of war.

The next book is a revisit of "The Skrayling Tree" by Michael Moorcock.
